A Hard Rockin' Day's Night =)

Last Wednesday, my dad, two siblings and I went to The Hard Rock Cafe to check out the Jamnites (?) Beatles event. Man, we had the best night! We're all suckers for the Fab Four. And I especially loved this night for the bonding we had.

Area One started the night with Elenor Rigby. Umpisa pa lang, panalo na! Among the songs they performed, I loved the Paul McCartney combo the most. I'm also extra pleased that they played While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Orange and Lemons presented a much noisier, angstier, drug-laden set. Hehehe... The band said that their new album was kinna inspired by one Beatles song - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I wonder if they were inspired by the song or with what the song stands for. Hehe... Man I'm a dimwit.

Then of course, the fabulous Bloomfields. This is a dream come true. I love their Beatles covers! The boys gave us a more rockin' and a-rollin' set. Louie's performance was again, on the top of my list. I definitely loved his Long Tall Sally/I'm Down bit. And when the boys were done playing, the audience just kept asking for more. These boys are the ultimate crowd pleasers!

The fourth band, well, kinna were out of place. I'm not really a huge fan of ska (damn me for that) and arranging the Beatles songs to have a ska feel to them - I guess I'm just not ready for that. Oh well =)

It's literally a Hard Day's Night for me. It's like what they say - work hard, PARTY HARDER!!!

What a precious night. =)

Hopiaface

I've been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis last Monday. Since I've started on my medication, the skin on my face hasn't stopped flaking uncontrollably. What started as 'just dry skin' is now a life(style)-altering, confidence-wrecking chronic condition. By chronic I meant I'll probably have it for the REST OF MY LIFE, now and then resolving and recurring in varying severity. My derma assured me that it wasn't an infection and that it's fairly common. She's probably trying to make me feel better, right? I mean, if the skin around your nose and mouth turns red and flakes, wouldn't you get depressed?

Ang dami namang pwedeng tubuan, mukha pa! At gitnang-gitna! When I talk to my co-employees I would cover half my face. I'm too self-conscious to let them stare at my hopia face. I remember my sister having the same condition when we were kids. Big deal, she had it on the soles of her feet! Well good for her really, her condition resolved a few years back and seem to have taken a long vacation leave. I hope mine just took a wrong turn and landed on my face.

Basically, seborrheic dermatitis affects parts of the skin - you guessed it - laden with oil glands. It affects 3-5% of the population and is more common in men (how lucky can I get?) Its causes and triggers are unknown (there are a few theories) and medication is geared towards symptom management and controlling the frequency of flare-ups. In short, there's no known cure. Cute. Pimples na lang sana!

Aside from my nearly depleted bank account, the effects of this condition is more complex than how my derma sums it up. I'm an emotional wreck right now, not to mention my self-confidence hitting its all time low. I know it's not infectious, but the stigma is starting to get to me.

Eh kung mag ala-Phantom of the Opera kaya ako? Darnit.

Another First: Cebu Virgin No More - Upon Arrival

I haven't been to Cebu. All the talks of how nice it is to explore Cebu and how pleasurable Cebu dining is, only made me feel more sorry that I haven't included this old old province in my itenerary of places to visit soon. Thanks to my boss, I spent six days in glorious Cebu. Finally. Though it wasn't really a pleasure trip, neither was it all work. So here are a few pictures of my devirginizing experience. Hehe..

a hiatus and then this

I've learned that in life, we'll meet so many kinds of people along the way. Some of them we'd like, some we'd even love with all our hearts. And sometimes we'd get to keep them, but most of the time we don't.

So I just have to ask... Can I keep you?

Stop Comparing

by: Bo Sanchez

We live in a pathologically dissatisfied world. And I'm going to tell
you why. Because we love to compare. Go around the world and discover
that people aren't happy with their bodies.

Filipinos want to be fair-complexioned like Westerners, and so buy
bleaching stuff. Westerners want to own bronzed bodies like ours, and
so purchase tanning lotions.

Those with moles have them removed, while those who don't
strategically implant beauty spots.

Some people want to shed a few pounds to look like Ally McBeal, while
others want to gain some baby fat to look like Drew Barrymore.

When are we ever going to stop and simply be happy with how we look?
We live in a sick world. I tell you. And that sickness is
comparisonitis. Take a look at wealth. When we drive our old Toyota,
it really suits us fine. We feel blessed in fact when the rain pours
outside and we feel snug and cozy on its faded upholstered seats.

But the moment we see our own officemate (or neighbor, or buddy, or
cousin, or brother) drive his sleek sky-blue, four-door,
four-wheel-drive Rav4, we automatically feel like third class children
of God. Next time we drive our bumpy, noisy, rusted, dilapidated
Toyota (notice how all the defects come out all of a sudden?), we feel
deprived, dispossessed, pariah, debased, and only a little higher than
the insects of the earth.

Listen carefully. Bill Gates' total assets are worth $60 billion.
That's more than the GNP of some small countries. Tiger Woods earns
$80 million simply by smiling on TV in a Nike shirt. And the stars of
the sitcom Friends are paid $50,000 per episode! My point? No matter
how hard you work, there'll still be some people who will be richer
than you are.

And there'll be some people who will be more beautiful, have more sex
appeal, have more boyfriends/girlfrie nds, and have more problems.
Try it for once. Stop looking around. Don't compare!

Don't compare her nose with your nose.
Don't compare his wife with your wife.
Don't compare his salary with your salary.
Don't compare her breast size with your breast size.
Don't compare her kid's report card with your kid's report card.
Don't compare his prayer group with your prayer group.
Don't compare her/his cellulite deposits with your cellulite deposits.

Stop comparing and start living and you'll be happier with your life.

This is crucial: The most difficult thing in the world is to be who
you are not. Pretending and trying to be someone else is the official
pastime of the human race. (I don't think dogs and cats and cows and
horses have this problem).

And the easiest thing in the world is to be yourself.
Be happy. Live!

There must be a reason why God made you tall or short or fat or thin
or bumpy all over.

Love who you are!

Caught FlowerFilter Prods' In Bloom project at Gweilos Eastwood. It was a great show. Kudos to Cy for a neat lineup, which includes:

Let's Paint!

My Lemon has recently developed an interest in painting. Yay! She's my daughter alright! Hehe... So this weekend we started our series of painting projects by painting plaster figurines at Let's Paint. It's another first for both of us. Unfortunately I chose a relatively complex figurine, which took me couple of hours to finish (nagmadali pa ko sa lagay na yan). There were times when I wanted to smash the darn plaster figure but I was aware that kids were watching me paint. So yeah, I had to be good.

Mind you, I don't quite paint well under pressure. It takes me days to finish a piece. Throw in a dozen pair of eyes (criticizing) watching me make a mess and voila! And to think this was supposed to detoxify me. Haha.. blame it on my OC-ness, darnit.

Cure for sore hearts

Lately we've been having so much stress at work. I, on the other hand, deal with a lot of domestic heartaches as well. And there's no better cure than a cup of coffee, good company, and sugar rush.

on homosexuality

SEPARATE OPINION
‘Don we now our gay apparel’

By Isagani Cruz
Inquirer
Last updated 02:14am (Mla time) 08/12/2006

Published on Page A10 of the August 12, 2006 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer

HOMOSEXUALS before were mocked and derided, but now they are regarded with new-found respect and, in many cases, even treated as celebrities. Only recently, the more impressionable among our people wildly welcomed a group of entertainers whose main proud advertisement was that they were “queer.” It seems that the present society has developed a new sense of values that have rejected our religious people’s traditional ideas of propriety and morality on the pretext of being “modern” and “broad-minded.”

The observations I will here make against homosexuals in general do not include the members of their group who have conducted themselves decorously, with proper regard not only for their own persons but also for the gay population in general. A number of our local couturiers, to take but one example, are less than manly but they have behaved in a reserved and discreet manner unlike the vulgar members of the gay community who have degraded and scandalized it. I offer abject apologies to those blameless people I may unintentionally include in my not inclusive criticisms. They have my admiration and respect.

The change in the popular attitude toward homosexuals is not particular to the Philippines. It has become an international trend even in the so-called sophisticated regions with more liberal concepts than in our comparatively conservative society. Gay marriages have been legally recognized in a number of European countries and in some parts of the United States. Queer people -- that’s the sarcastic term for them -- have come out of the closet where before they carefully concealed their condition. The permissive belief now is that homosexuals belong to a separate third sex with equal rights as male and female persons instead of just an illicit in-between gender that is neither here nor there.

When I was studying in the Legarda Elementary School in Manila during the last 1930s, the big student population had only one, just one, homosexual. His name was Jose but we all called him Josefa. He was a quiet and friendly boy whom everybody liked to josh but not offensively. In the whole district of Sampaloc where I lived, there was only one homosexual who roamed the streets peddling “kalamay” and “puto” and other treats for snacks. He provided diversion to his genial customers and did not mind their familiar amiable teasing. I think he actually enjoyed being a “binabae” [effeminate].

The change came, I think, when an association of homos dirtied the beautiful tradition of the Santa Cruz de Mayo by parading their kind as the “sagalas” instead of the comely young maidens who should have been chosen to grace the procession. Instead of being outraged by the blasphemy, the watchers were amused and, I suppose, indirectly encouraged the fairies to project themselves. It must have been then that they realized that they were what they were, whether they liked it or not, and that the time for hiding their condition was over.

Now homosexuals are everywhere, coming at first in timorous and eventually alarming and audacious number. Beauty salons now are served mostly by gay attendants including effeminate bearded hairdressers to whom male barbers have lost many of their macho customers. Local shows have their share of “siyoke” [gay men], including actors like the one rejected by a beautiful wife in favor of a more masculine if less handsome partner. And, of course, there are lady-like directors who are probably the reason why every movie and TV drama must have the off-color “bading” [gay] or two to cheapen the proceedings.

And the schools are now fertile ground for the gay invasion. Walking along the University belt one day, I passed by a group of boys chattering among themselves, with one of them exclaiming seriously, “Aalis na ako. Magpapasuso pa ako!” [“I’m leaving. I still have to breastfeed!”] That pansy would have been mauled in the school where my five sons (all machos) studied during the ’70s when all the students were certifiably masculine. Now many of its pupils are gay, and I don’t mean happy. I suppose they have been influenced by such shows as “Brokeback Mountain,” our own “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros” (both of which won awards), “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” and that talk program of Ellen Degeneres, an admitted lesbian.

Is our population getting to be predominantly pansy? Must we allow homosexuality to march unobstructed until we are converted into a nation of sexless persons without the virility of males and the grace of females but only an insipid mix of these diluted virtues? Let us be warned against the gay population, which is per se a compromise between the strong and the weak and therefore only somewhat and not the absolute of either of the two qualities. Be alert lest the Philippine flag be made of delicate lace and adorned with embroidered frills.

A very satisfied victim of Conspiracy

As usual, against all odds na naman ang drama ko. Thanks to my unbelievably stubborn spirit, I made it last night to Lovecore's gig at Conspiracy Bar. And boy what fun I had!

One by one, I picked up my companions for the night: my seatmate Jeyaiy (who celebrated her Nth birthday last monday), WWAI friend Gen and Anne Rice/Smashing Pumpkins co-follower Jon Earl. I've decided to keep this group small. Anyhoot, it's a weeknight. I shouldn't even be out. Hehe...

We arrived just in time for Lovecore's slot. Though the drummer was sick and therefore absent, and the setup didn't cater well to Lovecore's brand of noise (or maybe it was just lack of quality souncheck, huh Cy? :D ), it was a swell performance nonetheless. Their music is a reflection of their passion.

Bonuses galore: Stonefree, Cambio, Indio I w/ Karl Roy, and Salindiwa played that night too. Cinderella Jeyaiy had to leave after Stonefree's performance. Boo!

I really enjoyed bonding with Carl and Ephraim (guitarist and bassist) of Lovecore. They're really just ordinary guys with great talents and a healthy sense of humor. Cyril, who was busily fluttering about all night, was the most cheerful creature last night. :D

And now, my most overused sentence: Too bad the night had to end. Oh well... haha..

I give this night:

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

Pictures of You

Resembling Robert Smith, I love him more tonight!

Last Saturday was Cure Night @ saGuijo. I'm so glad I came, amidst the downpour. The Cure is probably my 5th favorite band and one of the first bands I got addicted to (no, I'm not that old). Watching bands play Cure songs in a cozy little place was a real treat for me. I simply had one of the best saGuijo nights ever.

But I guess the real treat for me here, aside from Skies of Ember's Just Like Heaven, is Pin Up Girls playing Pictures of You, my most favorite Cure song. They were the last guys who played, and I'm ever so glad I stayed.

Ces came with her funny little bro. My dear Louis made it as well. Man I've missed him so. Saw BK and together we had a little camphone-whoring. Met Larry and his friends too, and I should say I enjoyed their company.

With all these great friends around me and a lot of Cure songs playing, it's too bad the night had to end.

And now, the words from my favorite Cure song.

* * * * *

Pictures of You

I've been looking so long at these pictures of you
That I almost believe that they're real
I've been living so long with my pictures of you
That I almost believe that the pictures are
All I can feel

Remembering
You standing quiet in the rain
As I ran to your heart to be near
And we kissed as the sky fell
Holding you close
How I always held close in your fear

Remembering
You running soft through the night
You were bigger and brighter and whiter than snow
And screamed at the make-believe
Screamed at the sky
And you finally found all your courage
To let it all go

Remembering
You fallen into my arms
Crying for the death of your heart
You were stone white
So delicate
Lost in the cold
You were always so lost in the dark

Remembering
You how you used to be
Slow drowned
You were angels
So much more than everything
Hold for the last time then slip away quietly
Open my eyes
But I never see anything

If only I'd thought of the right words
I could have held on to your heart
If only I'd thought of the right words
I wouldn't be breaking apart
All my pictures of you

Looking so long at these pictures of you
But I never hold on to your heart
Looking so long for the words to be true
But always just breaking apart
My pictures of you

There was nothing in the world
That I ever wanted more
Than to feel you deep in my heart
There was nothing in the world
That I ever wanted more
Than to never feel the breaking apart
All my pictures of you

A half-hearted tribute?

Disclaimer: What follows is a narrative entirely  my own, and as such doesn't represent anybody else's opinions (but I'm sure at least a couple more felt the same way).

* * * * * * * * * * * *

All odds - that's what I was up against, but then again the will was so strong that I made it. Drenched in all-day rain, I felt that if I missed this one, I'd probably regret it, if not cry over it all night. You see, I'm not just a mere fan - I'm a diehard follower of the Fab Four since the day my mom played that vinyl with a picture of a green apple in the middle. The tribute to The Beatles held a lot of promise for me, and I expected that I'd be all dreamy when the night ends. So what if I'm soaked and freezing to death.

But alas when Gen and I reached Metrowalk, we felt a little lost. I have nothing against Pinoy rock but hey, I thought we're to have a 60's rockin' good time that night. If I hadn't stayed I would have believed that the entire universe had played a prank on me. It wasn't until Orange and Lemons played their first Beatle hit that I was convinced I was actually in the right place at the right time. It's the Beatles Tribute night tonight, alright.

The band played good and I should say they gave justice to the songs I love. Their version of Across the Universe was a personal favorite. I would've screamed for more had I not been waiting for The Bloomfields' performance. But mother of all unpleasant surprises, another group had to play before The Boys.

Again I have nothing against personal touches and improvisation, whatever they call it, but when you take the beat out of The Beatles, it's just not as fun. I had to sulk in my misery waiting for each and every prolonged instrumentals to fade. Basically, the excitement that has been building up in me for two weeks started to seep its way out of my system. It's just not right to put this set in between two rockin' bands. Again, I have nothing against the second group (I believe in artistic freedom, and it really doesn't matter whether I like their style or not), it just didn't feel right to put a relatively "milder" group that killed the rock and roll spirit. It would have been better if this group played first. That way, the energy could've built up better.

So what do you expect when The Bloomfileds took the stage? The crowd was already in a slightly sedated state. The Boys had to work extra hard to pump up the life out of everyone. It wasn't the usual Aruba experience. Deep inside though, I'm rejoicing. What could be a better experience than The Boys playing Beatle songs, or at least mostly Beatles'.

I fell in love with their Nowhere Man the first time I heard them play it at Aruba. I Feel Fine was a crowd favorite, unless my friends and I were the only crowd there. Hehe... I guess we're a little too noisy that night, as always. Long Tall sally/I'm Down was my favorite that night.

And after what it felt like ten minutes of heaven, the band had to leave the stage. Great, just when I was already getting what I came for! Sobrang bitin! Gen, Grace and I wanted so much more. It was disappointing, not because the perfomances sucked, on the contrary they were great. It's just that there's still this ball of explosive energy in our lungs that wanted so bad to get out. Next gig perhaps? Unfortunately, we won't be able to attend one in probably the longest dry spell we'll ever have.

If I'm to blame any one I'd blame the organizers. The Shindig, as the hosts ever so consistently referred to the event, lacked so much love from the part of the organizers. Hello, they are only paying tribute to the greatest band EVER, why should they make it fun for a snotty fan like me?

Another First

My WWAI friends and I went to the Enchanted Kingdom last Sunday. Our Naning, who's now based in Singapore, went home for a brief one-week visit. It's her birthday week so we all planned to have a rockin' good time. Our trip to EK was the first of the series of our little celebrations.

And yes, I'm EK virgin no more! =)

One Special Birthday Boy

Happy 66th Birthday Ringo Starr!!!

I almost forgot that today's his birthday. Good thing I was tuned in to RJ FM this morning on my way to work. Richard Starkey's 66 today. I was literally dancing in my seat while the DJ did a three-song sweep: Act Naturally, Ringo's version of You're Sixteen, and The Beatles' Free as a Bird.

Here's a few Starr info:

Real Name: Richard Starkey
Birth: July 7, 1940 in Liverpool, England
Dubbed as: The Sad Beatle
Compositions: Octopus' Garden, Don't Pass Me by
Instruments: Drums

Arrrrruba!

My WWAI friends dragged me into going to Aruba last night. I already declined but I guess I just can't say no. And boy was I glad I couldn't. I would have missed a terribly nice night.

Thursday nights at Aruba Metrowalk is Bloomfields night, and we're particularly excited for this nightout since our Singapore-based friend, Naning, was with us. It'll be months before we get together again. She's leaving Saturday morning so we're making the most out of her one-week stay in the country. *sniff* Anyhoot...

As always, I was Miss Screamo. This is my stress relief. I laughed the loudest, screamed the loudest. Man I was having so much fun! Although I think half of the crowd was dead last night. It wasn't the usual Aruba crowd I've known. Well it was almost four months since I last had my Bloomfix at Aruba. I guess the kids were no longer allowed to go out on weeknights. Hehe...

So there. The playlist was a bit different. Of course there's the usual stuff - Beach Boys' hits and my personal fave - The Beatles covers. Last night though, they played Nowhere Man and Kansas City!!! I was ecstatic! I wanted to hug 'em like little pokemon dolls (hehe... a hint of a psychokid here). By the time they were on their 2nd set, me and the girls are already on our feet. Deadma to the oldies who refused to move their butts. Jay-jay (of The Bloomfields) dubbed us as "lovely crowd" 'Nuff said.

I appreciate that Pepe (of The Bloomfields) took time to chat with Fer and I when we were outside during the break in between sets. I said hi to Pepe and Jayjay's dad and before I knew it, we were already discussing 60's music, turntables and vinyls, and 12-string guitrs. That's when Pepe saw us and he joined the chat. He's really a pleasant pleasant guy, level-headed and well, cute. Hehe... Same thing, we talked about music. And something else I couldn't forget:

Pepe: So when did you first saw us play?
Me: Last year in December, at Dish.
Pepe: Ah talaga? Supot pa kami 'nun.

I nearly died laughing. I didn't see that coming. Not from Pepe. Hehe... Ito pa:

Me: Hey i'll introduce you to my friend... this is Fer.
Fer: Hi.
Pepe: I'm Pepe.
Me: DUH.

Hahaha... kakainis talaga dila ko. Hehe.. Oh well.

Louie (the Bassist) was friendly too. I gave him a few pats for doing great (he gave me a few pats too, maybe for being sipsip. hehe...) Of course Lakan was nice as always. I even had the opportunity to bully him (Pag di nyo tinugtog Great Balls of Fire, gugulpihin ko kayo...).

And oh, they did an A Capella of Panalangin by the APO. Galeng! And jazzed-up versions of My Girl and Walk on By. Man I was having a blast! Too bad the night had to end.

I hope to see them again, and soon. Dancing is good for me.

My rating for last night's show:
out of five.

Credits: Genesis of Whoweareinstead for the picture. I actually look like a human being here. Gen, btw, was Pepe's classmate in UST.

Skies of Ember @ Kolumn Bar

Dott - vocals + guitars

Thursday night, instead of going to Katipunan to catch a friend's (cancelled) gig, I went straight to Kolumn Bar in Timog to catch another friend's gig. After what it seems like forever, I've seen Dott again.

Man I miss our group.

There's always coffee y'know.

The gig we we're supposed to watch (and stayed late for) was cancelled. Since my friends and I were already in Makati, we just took a right turn to where the heavenly aroma's coming from. There's no better cure for a sore spirit than a cup of good coffee and good company. =)

Artsy fartsies: Gen of WWAI. Thanks mucho, missy!

Pete's Getting Married

Wednesday night, my friends at the office and I met in Makati to give our Peter his "stag" party. He's getting married on Saturday. I remember that some two years a go, I was teaching this guy a couple of tricks of the trade. Well look at him now - he's tying the know tomorrow. How time flies.

Peter is not your typical makalaglag-*bleep* kinna guy. He's good-looking, that's a given, and he's got this aura about him that makes the girls (and matronic women) go ga-ga. I know very little of him, but that's enough to make me like him. He's consistently a gentleman, though sometimes very pabling. And through our bondings I've come to know how deep this person is, what he's gone through in life.

And now he's about to share his life with his long-time love. Because he got too busy with all the preparations, we barakos (yeap, I'm included) made plans to give him a night he'd remember. It was actually a last-minute plan (or lack of it), but I couldn't miss it for all the world. I had to hurry home, take a shower and fly to Makati with Jey.

We had dinner at Yellow Cab before we drove to this KTV bar in Jupiter. IThanks a lot! I have colds!!! I can't sing even if it saves my life. Then Jey said, "at kailan pa napigilan ng sipon ang videoke" (since when did colds get in the way if videoke)? Nga naman. Before I knew it, I was singin my lungs out (as always). Medyo ngongo nga lang, but I think I did a fine job trying not to make it rain.

I laughed so much that night I ended up with a migraine. And all the screamin and singin gave me sore throat. Ah heck. Peter won't be single forever. Had so much fun singin the hits of the eighties (napaghahalata ang edad) like Gold, Upside Down, Buttercup, Light and Shade (na di namin mapasukan ang chorus), among others. We were one crazy bunch of monkeys. We even harassed the waiters. Hehe...

I miss them already. If only I can go out with them more often (which is close to impossible, hehe).

To Peter, I wish you all the best. As I've told you that night, I'm not the best person to give advice if you want your marriage to last forever (hehe...). But I do believe in the sanctity of marriage, and if your marriage worked out, then good for you. May God bless you with little munsters, I mean, angels. Best wishes!

Post Script: of all nights, nobody brought a camera tonight. Nothing to remind us of this crazy night we had. Oh well, I guess the memories will suffice. =)

One Friday Night

Grilled veggie sandwich and 2 bottles of beer. Ayos!

Jey and I caught a friend's event at the Store for All Seasons. Guess who got lost on the road (again)? Hehe... Afterwards we went to Metrowalk to catch The Happee Freshcapades Event. Met with my WWAI friends. Had so much fun under the rain that I'm now under bug attack. Oh well. No regrets. I sure had a blast!

Pictures are mostly from Jey's cam, and a couple from Gen's. Thanks guys!

Good Monsters

Multi-platinum and three-time GRAMMY-winning band, Jars of Clay, is set to release their highly-anticipated seventh studio project, Good Monsters, on September 5th.

* * * * *

Personally, I can't contain my excitement. Though I was a latebloomer fan, I'm proud to say that I've caught up fairly well. Jars of Clay wasn't the first Christian Rock Band that I've come to love, it was actually DC Talk. The only JOC songs I knew then were those which received airplay.

Watching the Jars of Clay Live in Manila concert in Araneta spelled the difference. My heart could hardly contain the joy. Though I wasn't a full-time follower of the band back then, I was awestruck by their perfomance. The way the audience responded to their music was so overwhelming, I was so close to crying. When I got home that night, I had been transformed.

Through a friend of a friend, I was able to join this online community of local Jars of Clay fans. Named after JOC's 5th album, the group Who We Are Instead had become a vital part of my existence. From being "just fans" they've become my brothers and sisters. My life was a little better (but better nonetheless) because of them.

No need to ask me now, who's my favorite band. It's simple and obvious. As my faith is central to my being, so is Jars of Clay's music to my soul. They've inspired me beyond imagination. They've made me cry. They've humbled me and lifted me up. They've made me want to sing praises all waking hours of the day.

* * * * *

So what am I expecting from Good Monsters? Only the best, from the best. I'm sure I'll love this album, as I've come to love all their past produce. These guys haven't failed me yet, you know.

Baguio Virgin No Moe!

Hell yeah! I'm no longer a Baguio virgin. And this divirginizing experience was a blast. Spending my first ever time in Baguio with my insane WWAI friends was one of the best experiences of my life.

I wonder where we're off to next. Tee-hee...

Thanks Detty, Abby and Gari for the pictures. I guess it's okay that I wasn't able to bring my camphone. =)

Overexposure

with Richie and Lara

Yeap, we're over exposed. From the flash, of course. Heehee... We took this "opportunity" to bond and release the vanity that's been gathering dust (yeah, sure). You wouldn't believe that there's actually an ongoing product training. Oh well, that's us. =)

Vacation's Over

After our glorious/stormy/adventurous long weekend, we headed back to working at the office. Haven't really moved on, we're still in the reliving-the-experience-thru-looking-at-the pictures phase. Here are some pics during those picture exchanges: c",)

Taking my Yin+Yang Tabo Along

I've joined this group that worships the tabo. So here am I staying true to my promise that I'll bring my tabo(s) anywhere and everywhere I go.

From Zambales to Pangasinan

Since our stay in Zambales was cut short, Mon, Lemon and I headed straight to Alaminos, Pangasinan to visit my Lola Sion. It was her 86th birthday on friday. It took us just an hour to reach Alaminos. =)

It was awfully windy that if only we are in a healthy state of mind, we would be heading home. Ah heck. Life is full of uncertainties. Ain't it fun that way?

It's been almost 3 years since I last came to my lola's house. It's bittersweet to relive the memories of my childhood summer vacations spent there. I'm glad I was able to share a morsel of my childhood with lemon. =)

tama na ang drama, heto na ang mga pityurs!
