Palm Sunday officially starts Holy Week. I was brought up a Catholic so I just had to get to Church, amidst heat and sweat, to wave my 'palaspas' along with thousand others.
Waving the 'palaspas' signifies that we are welcoming Christ again into our hearts, and realizing that He died on the Cross to save us from our sins.
