Minsan sumasablay din si Lemon

Me, teasing Lemon: Moymoy Palaboy!

Lemon, irritated: Hindi nga ako kumakain nun eh!

Me: Kamusta ang party? Anong handa?

Lemon: Spaghetti lang. Pulubi nga eh.

My Little Munster said...

While we were doing videoke one Saturday night, Lemon chose Through The Fire for me to sing. Of course I had to react badly, (HELLO, Through the Fire kaya yon!) protesting that it's still too early for me to humiliate myself.

Just then, Lemon took the mic from me and said, "ako na kakanta! Kaya ko yan kantahin kahit di ako lasing!" (I'll sing it! I don't need to get drunk to be able to sing it!) Nyaaaar!

And then the other night, it was the neighbor's turn to do videoke. The horrible singing and doubly horrible volume at which the horrible neighbors were singing the horrible songs made our bodies twitch in pain. Lemon, obviously running out of patience (she was watching Sailor Moon Live Action Series), declared, "ANO BA YAAAN! Ipabarangay na nga natin sila!!!" (it;s like saying, "let's have them arrested")

Something tells me I should start saving up for pyansa (bail) money.

Huling Hirit

Lemon is coming home in 5 hours. Me being excited is an understatement. She's been away for five long weeks and I couldn't sleep thinking I'm gonna hug her again after such a long time.

I've long accepted the fact that I need her more than she needs me, my little munster.

So tonight I said goodbye to ambush drinking sessions, sleepovers, hungover workdays and anime marathons. No I'm not regretful, I am actually very excited. Finally, the nagger conscience is coming back.

Just how did I say goodbye? Pigged out at Sbarro with my Wednesday Group, had coffee with AnneRicePhil's Keeper and had rounds of Red Horse with my usual Friday group (Wednesday and Friday sessions conveniently moved a few days back). And at 4am I am preparing to watch a dozen episodes of Bleach til the little munster arrives.

Yes, I filed a leave. There's no way I am letting her outta my sight the day she comes home.  ^.^

Sayonara, recklessness. Ja ne!

Lemon and my red streaks

I met up with Lemon and her Dad at Trinoma to do a last minute Christmas shopping. When I arrived at the department store, I felt weak discovering a lot of people decided to do their last minute shopping on the very last minute as well. Then from afar, I heard a high pitched voice calling out to me. It was Lemon. Amused, I asked her, "how did you find me so easily, with all the people shopping around?"

To which she sarcastically replied, "hello, mom! Your red hair?"

I was dumbfounded once more. I'm pretty sure she's only seven. Uhm... yeah.

Lemon, on my Anne Rice obsession

I was downloading audiobooks one weekend. I was checking the quality of my downloads and ended up listening to Body Thief for about 30 minutes. overheard:

Lemon: wala na talaga 'tong si Mommy. Addict na.

Toinks! I just had to laugh.

Lemon, on the color PINK

Lemon and I were on our way to her school. Earlier we already had an argument on why she can't wear mommy's accessories to school. We saw this girl wearing baby pink shirt, Magenta pants, pink shoes and even had pink ribbons on her hair. Lemon goes...

"Mom, I don't like pink any more. Parang baduy na. Nung baby pa ko I love pink pero ngayon ang gusto ko na lang lahat BLACK and GRAY."

I really doubt that she's only seven. And I'm her mom!

The Vampirates @ EcoPark

Took the time off from work to join my baby Vampirate's trip to La Mesa EcoPark. It was very humid that day and our good old rubbershoes gathered the most mud ever, but we had tons of fun.

I love my Lemon! She's becoming a lady with such strong character already.

From 'The Eyes of a Child, My Child'

It's just one of those schoolnights when the little kid is so lazy to walk the extra mile. Basta tapos na homework, okay na. As an adult (who am I kidding?), I had to play my part:

Mum: Lemon, mag aral ka naman mabuti...blah...Mas okay yung matalino ka, yung may honors ka. When you grow up mas madali kang yayaman kung tapos ka ng school and pag matalino ka (I didn't want to mention about working or she'll get disillusioned. She knows I'm having a hard time working and making ends meet even if I do have work).

Lemon: Eh di ba Mommy, matalino ka? Eh bakit di ka pa rin mayaman?

Mum: (Dumbfounded) Uhm... Kasi malas ako eh.

Hay kids these days. Di mo talaga mabola.

In the eyes of a child, my child.

Lemon and I talk a lot (what a surprise!) - in the car, before going to sleep, before I leave for work, while watching a movie (I know we shouldn't but...), yadda yadda. Here are some amusing conversations we've had:

in the car, on our war to a mall:
Lemon: Mum, why is the sky blue? (one of the ultimate questions each child had to ask)
Mum: (praying I know the right answer) Because molecules in the air scatter blue light more than they scatter other colors. Di ba we have so many colors in the rainbow? Those molecules bounce off more blue light.
Lemon: Ah.. but what are molecules?
Mum: They're the little stuff all things are made of. They group together into particles. You can't see a single molecule kasi they're so small.
Lemon: Ah... Eh why is the sea blue also?
Mum: It reflects the blue sky. (I should've stopped explaining by this time but noooo. I just had to be Ms. Smarty pants) But sometimes it's green when the water is shallow kasi it shows naman what's under the water which mostly is green stuff.
Lemon: Ah yeah. Green. Like aliens.
Mum: *dumbfounded*

Last night while watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on Disney Channel:

Scene: The morning after Aslan was stabbed by the White Witch on the stone table. Susan and Lucy fell asleep while Peter and Edmund lead the battle against the White Witch.

Lemon: Wala lang, natulog lang sila. Di man lang sila tumulong! Umiyak-iyak lang sila. (They just slept, they didn't even help. They just cried.)
Mum: *laughing*

After watching Highschool Musical (I know, right?):

Mum: I love Sharpay. She's so cute!
Lemon: Me too! I don't like Gabrielle. Lagi na lang syang parang kawawa. Liit pa ng boses. (She's pathetic. She's got such a small voice!)
Mum: (thinking I've created a monster), uhm yeah. hehe..

* * * *

i just remembered one more:

be careful what stuff you let your kids watch. Even seemingly innocent  flicks such as Finding Nemo could change their lives forever.

One frustrated mom during dinner:
Mum: Lemon, why won't you eat fish?!?
Lemon: Eh kasi di ba sabi sa Finding Nemo, "fish are friends, not food!"
Mum: What???

And she won't eat fish to this day.

(I'll update this every now and then. I don't want to forget these conversations. She'll grow up soon.)

=)

Her Mother's Daughter alright.

I let Lemon borrow my 17th century gentleman/Anne Rice costume and painted her face as well. She's growing up to be more and more like me. Should I start worrying now?

Prep Grad

My not-so-little-anymore bundle of joy graduated from prep school last March. My baby already started catching up, as she got the 8th honor in her class. Yay!

Lemon's 6th Birthday - My baby's now a big baby!

yeap, same cake as kris a.'s.

Venue 1: at her school. Prepared homemade chicken nuggets and fruit jello

Venue 2: At the office. Brought meaty spaghetti.

Venue 3: At Nanay's. Hardcore chilren's party.

At the end of the day, I got soooo tired. But then again that night, I was probably the happiest exhausted mum in the universe. I LOVE MY LEMON!

Prep Quiz Bee

Lemon was one of the representatives of her class in a quizbee hosted
by their school. She didn't win the contest but I'm mighty glad just as
well.She's my pride and joy!

My little giant baby is who you
call a natural. She does not like to spend hours studying. She'd rather
use the PC til her eyes pop out. Heehee... I love my Lemon!
