i'm still gathering my thoughts on this. here are some articles for now:

in a nutshell, four students got suspended for ten days because they posted hate blogs. they posted hate blogs because they don't like what's happening at and to their school and they are suppressed to air their sides.
then they let go of probably the best teacher ever - one who'd train batch after batch after batch of future journalists to excellence. i should know. in was with batch 1.
had enough? they apparently haven't. they had to shut off the school papers!
I AM SO ANGRY I WANT TO WRITE THEIR NAMES ON MY DEATHNOTE. just kidding. but I am so upset. I am so damn angry.
Weeeell... I'm afraid that loyalty and honour is no longer the currency of the realm - it's currency, that's the currency of the realm.
ReplyDeleteThe number one objective of schools is to get butts in the seats and money in the bank - rolls of students to show to their sponsors and alumni, good news about it in the press. Of course anything critical spoils that rose tinted image.
Its just a sign of the times... and it isn't unique.
i want to read the blog they wrote.
ReplyDeletemay link ka ba?
well they've either deleted them or kept them private. i was able to read one.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel... >o< kids kasi these days don't know how to respect people... My mom kasi is a teacher at a private school... They're kinda worse... they take hidden vids of their teachers, edit them and put them up on video sharing sites...
ReplyDeleteI can't understand most people on the face of the earth these days...Lack of Jesus = Lack of Sanity And the ones suffering are the students....Shame on them All....
ReplyDeletei'm still speechless. i just know that it's never right to suppress freedom of speech. it's a sign of a functioning head and social awareness at an early age. labas na sa school yun.
ReplyDeletei've had similar experiences. it even paved the way to my resignation from my previous job. i blog because i want to breathe out. and just as i complain, i also praise and give credit. hirap kasi sa mga tao, magandang bagay lang gusto nilang marinig about them.
really sad....
