hahaha... i dont even know if Zac has anything to do with this pic. baka deranged fan with an overactive imagination. but i gotta hand it over to the person. ang galing ha. hahaha...
I have to admit that he's a decent actor... But Hollywood has already killed Tomb Raider and DOA... Now they're setting their eyes on Prince of Persia and Devil May Cry... After that maybe Death Note and DOLL... Damn it Hollywood... Stop makin' remakes of video games and anime that you can fookin pull off...
Hey, Shia LeBouf was able to escape his Even Stevens mode. *shrug* Plus Efron is one of the better actors in the HSM thingy (Lucas Grabeel though is the best, based on his other TV work...not to mention portraying a young Lex Luthor).
If I were the director honestly I'd get Zac Efron, push him to the limit, and throw the finger at his HSM fangirls. :p I'd like to see an evil Zac. heh heh. How about Alex Proyas doing it? Or Darren Aronofsky?
Of course, the only thing Efron has in common with Light there is the outfit and the hair color.
oh i love Shia and Zac and Lucas. I can imagine Zac outgrowing his HSM pals. When I saw his Bet On It vid, I was convinced he's got a lot of potential.
not all remakes naman is bad -- i think "the departed" stood on its own from its original "infernal affairs." however, though, i think it really depends on the writer and the director. (and now i'm wondering if steven spielberg could do the same for "oldboy" and can will smith pull off an "oldboy?")
though, it would be hard to adapt this to american culture, as it is heavily based on japanese mythology -- aside from that, it's workable. i think zac efron is good for the role -- not only because he does look amazingly similar to the drawing -- but more because, he has an angelic charm and if can pull off the devilish intellect of light, hell that would really be interesting and somewhat a breakaway from his hsm and disney reputation.
though i can't think of a good "L" in the young american/western actors.
i realize, i'm so off-topic. just wanted to share my 2cents.
oh i know a friend who'll rejoice reading this comment.
And I actually agree with this, then again we're only fantasizing, aren't we? If there ever would be a Hollywood adaptation, I just hope it stays true to the original plot. I got hooked on the story, of how L and Light outwit each other every time, and not on how cute the characters are. Oh who am I kidding. Light is so damn cute! Hehe... I also love it when I think, crap it's dead end, but then it's not. I loved the adrenaline rush! I love discovering how they'd get away from situations. I think I have the makings of an evil genius. I love how their minds work.
sadly, american writers aren't the best deconstruction and reconstruction experts, hence they end up mutilating Asian stories just to make it more appealing and easier to understand to western audiences. crazy SOBs.
I'm a Light-girl as well. I like the anime and the manga version, as well as Tatsuya Fujiwara's portrayal of the role (Tatsuya Fujiwara ga suki da~).
